Last 06-08 August 2008 I had 3 days training of Works Simplification and Office Management in Jakarta. At the first day, we were trained by Mrs. Evelyn Rientje Elsjelyn, Assistant Vice President in Learning Center Group in our bank. She was nice, kind and funny. She told us about her dream to travel and visit every corner of Indonesia to help and share her knowledge in learning english. She really concerns about the lack of skill and poor ability in practicing English . She informed us about her new published book “1200 Words Power“. For her, writing books is just a start to the next step.
“1200 Word Power“ is a book to improve the vocabulary through tic tac toe game. As Mrs. Evelyn said that the number of words needed by kid is different for each level of age, 5 years old kid needs 2.000 words, 7 years old kid needs 7.000 words and 14 years old kid needs 14.000 words. This number of words will affect the language skill like reading, writing, listening and speaking, that’s why its important to improve the vocabulary. The book is suitable for kids because its fun to play, the pictures and the colors are nice and attractive. The contents consist of several topics like food, people, colors and clothing, home, school and subjects, recreation and entertainment, etc. So we can say that the book is educating and entertaining J.
